Figs - Malayan Banyan

A huge giant of a tree in Malaysia can be strangled by a fig tree or Malayan Banyan or jejawi..

Whenever a Malaysian gardener sees a young ara sapling growing inc racks in old drains and walls, he would quickly pull it out. It can grow into a large tree with stout prop roots and a curtain of slender aerial roots.

The Oriental Pied Hornbills also love the Malayan figs.
