Yunnan : The Chef misplaced his Hat?

I was in Mengzi, near Kunming, enjoying my photography and Yunnanese street food when I chanced upon this hat.

Was it a hat?

Luckily everyon spoke Mandarin. I was told that this was a special cover for the Yunnanese steamer. Made of straw it is a traditional , hand made conical steamer cover.

Interestingly, tourists have been told that there are 18 Guai or Oddities in Yunnan and this is one of them. I will be looking for the 18 Guai of Yunnan. Stay tuned.
