Sibu Tales : Bah lan di and Weesikee

Business men and XO brandy. Sibu people loved XO Brandies. They were the trophies of the rich during the timber era, 1960's and 1970'sNo automatic alt text available.

Once a timber merchant was walking towards the departure lounge in Kuching and he was really happy with himself. He must have gotten another concession. He had two bottles of brandy in his carry on bag. However from the corner of his eye he saw a "retired" YB. In order to avoid him he quickly did an about turn, and of course the retired man was not blind as he was to tell the story many times ....

In less than 5 minutes the timber merchant had a small accident and the two bottles of XO crashed onto the floor.

Guo Koh ri kuo loh.....He should have been more gracious. Offer one bottle to the retired guy and keep the other one for himself...

Well every time I drink XO, I think of that anecdote.
