This dian Xin Cao is still available in Ing Kong Drug Store in Miri.
When we were young, my Ngie Mah (maternal grandmother) in Nang Chong Village would treat any one suffering from nose bleeding with dian xin cao, which was available in a box in her bed room drawer.
Nose bleeding, somehow was a very common ailment amongst all of us cousins. Just a bit of scratching of the nose and we would have a nose bleed.
the dian xin cao is a kind of rush pith, from a kind of grass in China.
We were always amazed by her rustic ways of treating our common wounds e.g. wounds from stepping on nails (we played barefooted), cuts and even tooth aches.
My grandmother however, would stuff our noses with the pith but some other people would take the dian xin orally.
Note : A friend sent a recipe : get two leung rush pith, add l chien of dang sha, blend together. Each time take 2 chien, washed down by some watery porridge.
