Sibu : Brush Orchid

This is quite a common wild orchid found in the suburban areas of Sibu,usually on older trees like rain tree along Aman Road.

Wild orchids can be found in many parts of Sarawak especially in places which have not be logged indiscriminately.

The Brush Orchid is pretty but is not that striking enough to become one of the commercially acceptable orchids. Perhaps on orchid lovers and collectors would bother to collect them and keep them in their gardens.

The local Foochows call it "Sosook" or brush orchid. It has a beautiful colour - lilac.
