Sibu Tales. Multi Purpose Oven
My mother was fortunate enough to acquire a multi purpose oven which she could use over a simple kerosene stove or gas stove.
It has lasted more than 50 years now.
She had cooked a whole braised duck in the spacious oven and my sisters had all baked their cookies and cakes with it. It was a favourite kitchen equipment for all of us and friends and neighbours all come and admire the equipment.
Now that the oven has been passed over to me, I have enjoyed cooking with it. I usually get the steamer going for one dish, the frying pan for a stir fry and the oven for a roasted chicken. So in a very short time I can get at least three dishes done.
My family's favourite chicken is the roast chicken with a red wine sauce. This oven is superb. It does not have a glass window, it does not have a temperature control gadget. I use my nose and my own watch to get the chicken roasted in a good half hour or slightly more. Just have to pay attention to the cooking.
It is a blessing to inherit an heirloom.
It is a very innovative idea with all the heat sealed in.
