Shuet Yi - white fungus

In Mandarine Chinese it is called  银耳 (pinyin: yín ěr; literally "silver ear"), 雪耳 (pinyin: xuě ěr; literally "snow ear"); or 白木耳 (pinyin: bái mù ěr, literally "white wood ear"), and in Japanese it is called shiro kikurage (シロキクラゲ, lit. "white tree jellyfish").

Young Chinese girls traditionally have been advised to drink a soup made from white fungus with chicken so that they would develop a smooth complexion. Many Foochow families also prepare soups with it to heal dry coughsImage may contain: food

Snow fungus is best eaten as a cooling sweet dessert, especially after a banquet.

The Imperial Tang Dynasty concubine Yang Gui Fei credited snow fungus for helping her to maintain her yhouthful appearance.

White fungus is dubbed as the poor man's birds nest.

Its scientific name is Tremelia fuciformis and is a specieis of fungus. It is quite commonly found in the tropics, especially on dread branches of broadleaf trees.
