MV Rajah Brooke (Straits Steamship)

No photo description available.

the Steam Ship Rajah Brooke was owned by Straits steamship company.

It was a passengers-cargo vessel which plied between Singapore and Kuching on a regular basis.

Travelling by the steam ship was quite grand. there were two classes of passengers, First Class and Second Class.

The vessel did not travel very fast but luckily the South China Sea was never too stormy as most passengers who have travelled between Kuching and Singapore would attest.

Food was simple, and some passengers would dine with the Captain at his table. There was no entertainment and children mainly stayed in the cabins, all of which two bunk beds.

When passengers reached Singapore, they would be taken to the pier by a motor launch.
