Family Visiting Kiong Ann

No photo description available.
My grandfather was the First Foochow to go into the brick making industry. He was also the first one to import machinery from the UK for his brickworks.

In subsequent years four of his sons took over as manager, consecutively.

The extended family visited the Brickyards from time to time and considered it a great outing into the outskirts of Sibu. Sg. Aup was almost 2 hours by road, by a very slow car. The drive was really rough.

One of the first visits by family was when our Singapore aunts, Aunt Lily, Aunt Nyuk Sieng and Aunt Maggie with young Michael Oon came for Grandfather's 70th birthday. Here the photo shows them in the office, equiped with cabinets (for guns) etc. My father and my third uncle Hwa King are also in the photo.

My grandfather passed away in 1963, followed by my father in 1965, Uncle Hwa King in 1967.

This photo shows another visit. It must have been the time when Aunty Greta was about to go off to study in the US and the family met at Sg. Aup with Uncle Tai Sui. Uncle Hwa King commuted every day as he and his family lived in Hose Lane, Sibu. Every one looked so good here, especially our Goo Poh, Chang Yuk Ging.
