Baram Tales : The Longest Belian "Bridge" in the Baram
It was a good photography outing for me. The bonus was the chance to record some oral history of the Foochow migration to the Baram. The Kapitan Tie family and Dr. Vincent Huang Huat Choon helped to provide more information.
the amazing, longest belian bridge in the Baram is worth photographing. It was a rich experience for my friends and I.
If only the belian planks could talk!! There would be thousands of stories to relate. I am ready to listen.
Dr. Huang and his siblings used to walk to school using this bridge.
this bridge leads to the main Marudi Poyut road. It takes a good half hour's walk to reach the main road, to catch a bus or taxi in the olden days.
the other way of getting out of this village today and in the olden days is to take a speedboat to Marudi. It will only take 15 minutes.
